PUMPITOPERA TRANSATLANTICA MICRO-COMMISSIONS

Wed 13 Sep 2023

To celebrate the UK premiere of Pumpitopera Transatlantica by Brazilian artist collective MEXA, Transform has invited four of the Leeds based artists we’re most excited about to develop micro-commissions drawing on themes of protest, borders and self-revelation.

We’re thrilled to be working with Roma Loudun, Nicky Murmann, Mayowa Ogunnaike and Bakani Pick-up who are creating short new works to be presented during the festival.

Roma, Nicky and Mayowa’s works can be seen prior to the performances of Pumpitopera Transatlantica and Bakani’s work can be experienced as part of final night party CLUB ODYSSEY.

In this performance, Athena takes you on a journey of discovery into what it means to live in a queer body. An unexpected learning through the bones, skins and blood of people’s identity as disabled or chronically ill. Athena is guiding you back to your body, your house, your home.
