The Collective
with Ásrún Magnúsdóttir
[ICELAND]‘The collective’ is an ambitious programme inviting 16-21’s to dream up projects and ideas for the Transform festivals. As part of this exciting process Transform is embarking on, we are excited to introduce a pioneering collective of young curators; Rowyn Ashley (they/them) Jayne Reid (she/her), Alex Callaghan (they/them), Trinity Welch-Price (she/her) and Cara-Mia Cruise-Brahm (she/her).
They have also invited Icelandic artist Ásrún Magnúsdóttir to undertake a hyper-local residency in Leeds this Spring. Ásrún is interested in amplifying voices that she feels might be heard better; giving the stage to other people and giving them space to speak up, be seen and listened to. She has experience working with young people, teenagers and children but also micro-communities like her own neighbours, residents of particular neighbourhoods or people that share an apartment building. Ásrún will be introduced to young people across Leeds by the collective to spark new connections and ideas for a future project for Transform 23. Follow the website for updates and ways to follow the process.
The collective is supported by Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Backstage Trust, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Garfield Weston, The Liz & Terry Bramall Foundation, and Leeds 2023. Supported by Leeds Inspired as part of Leeds City Council. Supported by Leeds City College.
